White Rabbit Hay is excited to announce our NEW Meadow Hay product, packed full with a splendid mixture of hay, wild grass, herbs and flowers, giving it a beautiful aroma throughout the year which the local Scottish farmers call “The Smell of Summer”.
Grown on an ancient flood plain for the river Teith, our Meadow Hay is an outstanding example of our commitment to working with nature and wildlife conservation.
We have on particular pasture of about 15 acres that is an ancient flood plain for the river Teith. This pasture has been left to mature so that the root system works through the alluvial soil of the river bank to provide internal stability and limit river bank erosion during high water.
The river banks are also populated with wild bush and berry trees which provide cover and food for local wildlife.
This pasture captures and contains any flooding from the Teith every year. Due to its soft yet durable nature this hay is kept to feed lambing sheep flocks in mid-winter.
